Sarah Blasko – “We Won’t Run”
Haungtingly Beautiful! así describió una desconocida a la obra de mi mamá; unas pinturas a gran escala en blanco y negro. Puros, sin grises. Bosques sacados de un libro de cuentos, creepy, dark. Meses después oí a Sarah Blasko, una australiana indie-pop cuya música me gustó y me dispuse a ver sus videos. Al llegar al de “We wont run” me conseguí con esa misma belleza -no tan bella- de los cuadros de mi madre (hasta que el plano se abre para mostrar un ojo y se pierden el parecido -y la magia-).

INTERNATIONAL STYLE wants to become an interdisciplinary platform for research and cultural production that, starting on an interest in the local and international history of modernity and utopian ideals, encourages a reflection on contemporary society.Our objectives are:
-To regularly bring contemporary arts into XX Century domestic architecture and closer to the stories of the people living in it, organising and encouraging exhibitions of contemporary visual arts into modernist buildings and blocks of flats, also highlighting the atypical history of modern architecture in the UK .
-To run a residency programme for visual artists.
-To create an international network of similarly minded artist-run-spaces in XX Century buildings (primarily housing blocks), encouraging potential venues to join in and maintaining a permanent debate on contemporary aesthetic practices and sociopolitical issues.

Sí, la misma de los zapaticos marcados con “me” & “you”. Es ella, la que muchos saben que adoro, quien junto a Roe Ethridge (otro artista) nos regala estas fotos en Vice. Un videito indie & happy, como lo describen los comentarios “yutuberos”, de una canción que no conocía y que ahora acompaña mis horas de espumas y burbujas… “And it was fun, fun, fun when we were laughing“!!

Seguimos malpegados, sí. No nos quitamos a Pete Yorn ni para bañarnos y la verdad es que no nos importa. Hoy salió este concurso para ganar entradas a sus conciertos. Dudo tener muchos lectores en EEUU, y si los tengo no necesariamente serán grandes fanáticos. Si te gusta The Whitest Boy Alive, amarás Kings of Convenience… y es que los dos tienen en común a Erlend Øye. Me pasaron su último cd – Declaration of Dependence – hace ya un tiempo, y desde el título quedé enganchada. Mrs. Cold, Rule my World y Boat Behind me hacen el día cuando se me olvida lo que no se me debe olvidar.
Conseguí también sus discos anteriores (Riot on an Empty Street y Quiet Is the New Loud), todavía no les he dedicado tanto tiempo pero todo parece apuntar a que el amor será el mismo.
Yo no sé de instrumentos, ni de notas, ni de influencias… sólo sé que suenan muy bien y me gusta ponerlos a todo volumen en la oficina (aunque sólo yo los oiga con audífonos). Tienen un “simple-romantic-blue-honest-vibe” que me encanta. Quizás mi obsesión Berliniana también tenga algo que ver con todo esto. Quizás no.

Un día el diseño industrial y el diseño gráfico se enamoraron. Empezaron a salir como cualquier pareja, fueron al cine, se regalaron rosas, se besaron en el parque, se dijeron cosas lindas al oido. Empezaron un romance maravilloso. A las 3 de la mañana de un martes a Gráfico le sonó el teléfono, era industrial llorando y nerviosa, había estado mareada y había decidido comprar una prueba de embarazo la cual señalaba el nacimiento de un nuevo ser. 9 meses después de muchas horas de trasnocho cuidando un embarazo nace una idea, nace la union entre lo gráfico y lo industrial para llevar amor a los hogares del mundo. 9 meses después pesando 7 kilos y medio nace Tipolove.

Estoy regresando de la ciudad donde reina el ladrillo, la amabilidad y una nueva movida cultural super interesante. Diría que a las oportunidades las pintan calvas en todos lados menos en Bogotá! De la boca de sus propios habitantes supe que la crisis no los ha afectado, que cada día se sienten más seguros y que día tras día hay más espacios y apoyo para el arte. 2. De Miler Lagos ya les he hablado pero continuaré haciéndolo mientras sigamos siendo amigos y su trabajo siga impresionandome como lo hace. En este viaje pude ver en su taller unas obras del 2005 que me fascinaron. 3. ArtBo, la Feria Internacional de Arte de Bogotá, una propuesta con excelentes galerías, espacios para jóvenes artistas y hasta un pabellón para niños super divertido! Paralelamente está La Otra, una feria un poco más alternativa creada gracias a la iniciativa de la galería Valenzuela Klenner. Ambas muy diferentes, ambas muy buenas!
